mixed metal leaf, oil paint on wood
9 × 12
framed size: 10.25 x 13.25
From the Field Note Series
It’s the stretch of red that does it. That singular color — so distinctly Arizona — pulling you across the landscape.
Red Stretch was created while I was preparing for Horizon, a study in palette and contour. The red, the blue sky, the deep earth tones — they came together with a kind of intensity I couldn’t ignore.
Strong, sculptural mountain forms anchor the composition. There’s texture here — raised earth, sharp silhouettes. You’ll find layers of gold leaf in varying carats, just the slightest edge of green woven through.
For me, this piece carries masculine energy meeting the feminine — the structure and tension of the land against the vastness of the sky.
It’s a stacked experience.
It’s the weight of red earth, the clarity of blue sky, and the power of presence held in form.
